by Tabitha DeSeranno | Apr 4, 2025 | Website Real Talk

You put all this effort into having a website, but be honest: is it actually doing anything? If your site is just sitting there (maybe not even looking that good) and not helping you book clients, grow your list, or support your content… it’s time to fix...

I'm just going to say it. You don't need 47 animat I'm just going to say it. You don't need 47 animations to make a website interesting. 😂 Every section sliding in. Then bouncing. Then fading. Then zooming. Then doing a full backflip when I scroll. Please stop. 🫠 A website can have personality without all of that. Good design is knowing what to add AND what to leave alone.
Long before I was designing websites for service p Long before I was designing websites for service providers, I was sneaking onto the computer after bedtime to build pages for my Neopets. 🐾 I’d be up for HOURS messing around with HTML, CSS, colors, layouts, graphics... all for my virtual pets. I was getting my first taste of web design without even realizing it. Looking back, I probably should’ve seen this coming. When I started working as a VA in 2012, building websites was the thing I kept gravitating toward. By 2018, it was officially my job. 💻 And websites are still my favorite part of what I do. There’s just something about taking a bunch of pieces and making them all work together... Apparently, 12-year-old me knew what she was doing. Well... except for the bedtime part. 😂 Okay, now I have to know... did anyone else play Neopets? Or do you still play?! 👇
It's National Women's Small Business Month, so let It's National Women's Small Business Month, so let's talk about the online presence holding a lot of us back. 🫠 Specifically, the website you secretly hope nobody will ask for... Maybe you pieced it together yourself a few years ago and haven't touched it since. Maybe you send people to your Instagram instead, because that feels easier. Or maybe you don't have one at all yet. 🫣 If that's you, you're definitely not alone... Your website should be doing some of the heavy lifting for you... and at the very least, that means these 3 things: 1️⃣ Making it obvious what you do in 5 seconds or less 2️⃣ Showing people you're the real deal 3️⃣ Making the next step stupid-easy to find And if you don't have a website yet, this is your checklist for when you do. Which one does your website need the most help with? 🤔 Drop the number in the comments... and if the answer is "all 3," that's ok too. 👇
I don't care if you're a therapist, lawyer, coach, I don't care if you're a therapist, lawyer, coach, photographer, accountant, or some other profession where everyone seems to think "professional" means boring. 😂 When I design your brand and website, your personality stays in it. Because people are going to hire you for YOU. Your website can be credible AND interesting... you don't have to choose. 🙌 This is what one client said when she saw hers: "I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It fits my personality and my brand much better." If you want a website that's credible AND sounds like you, start with a free Brand Clarity Call 👉 sparkandsouldesign.com/clarity
This is what I see all the time... 🌱 You started This is what I see all the time... 🌱 You started with one offer. 🌱 Then you added another. 🌱 Your audience evolved. 🌱 Your prices changed. 🌱 Your brand changed. 🌱 Your confidence changed. And somewhere along the way, your website became a weird little time capsule of every version of your business that came before. 😂 That's when I know its time for a new website... You've basically outgrown the old one. And honestly? That's a good thing. It means your business grew. Your website just didn't grow with it.
